Salvage Sunday and Viewer Challenge

So it was a fairly nice Sunday with nothing to do...me and Danielle decided to go Salvaging to see what we could find. She didn't really have anything particular she was looking for but I was hot on the trail of a storage piece for my bathroom. I was in the mood for some furniture refinishing and I struck gold! Here we are on our way out...So cute.

We didn't expect a sendoff parade but we ended up with one! A gaggle of turkeys, in the midst of mating season waving and cheering us on...GOBBLE gobble!!!!

Now for our finds.....First on the list is this pair of 19oo chairs... a little rough around the edges I admit but not hard to spiff up. Stay tuned for this project at a later date!

Next is the piece I was looking for in the first place, an antique armoire. How beautiful, and to think she was stuck all the way in the back with things stacked all over her and a big hideous bamboo hutch hiding her beautiful drawers. What a Pity. But I am a scavenger and unearthed her... Originally priced at $120.00...I weaseled my way down to $35.00 (A STEAL). So proud!!!

Some before shots.... (*notice the little hand painted tin can on top, a dump find*)

I emptied her out and took off the doors.

First i sanded the actual piece...and was going to take off her hardware and sand the drawers but there were some minor repairs that needed to be made to them first. For another (sunnier) day I suppose. But here she is sanded.

This is the third and final piece I found. I am not sure what it was originally, but I thought of a spice rack first then realized if I am sticking to a bathroom theme this could hang above the armoire upside down for a shelf with towel rack!

I took a brillo to her rusty body and scraped her until she was like new. I spray painted her "ocean breeze" to match my shower curtain. And a 20 minute project finished!!!

Last year I found that somebody dropped this little broken fire pit on my porch...hmmmm... and i got a little carried away with how fun spray painting is..hehehe

But I want to add some pretty color to my mundane back yard and this should def do the trick!

If anyone wants a challenge....I challenge you for ideas on how to repurpose these trellises, I have about 8 of them and want to reuse them around my house somehow...Sow there it is leave your ideas in my comments!!! Thanks all.

What a fun way to spend time with my best friend and to be creative on a budget. Stay tuned for the final results of the armoire project, and for the chairs. Now go forth and be thrifty!!

IM SORRY Its been too long

SOOOOO I haven't written in too long I know! But there is good reason. My nephew John Raymond was born and I have spent every day since thinking about him or being with him lol. He loves it when Matante reads to him. Here he is...( i call him junior, everyone else calls him J.R.)
In the meantime I have been crafting away for a few baby showers that are coming up. I love making baby things!! I want a baby so bad. Here they are...
And today is Valentines day. I had Danielle and Justine over, Me and Danielle crafted and made the baby tickets above. Justine and I made sugar cookies!!! And a delish dinner for our hubbys.

I had a great time...oh in other recent news me and Jason were asked by our great friends Danielle and Andre Marquis to be there unborn baby's godparents and if anything should ever (heaven forbid) happen we would take her. I am so completely honored and touched to be Reese's god mother I cannot wait to meet her!

Santa sacks with my mominlaw

Today I spent the day shopping for flannel to make Santa sacks with my mother in law. It is always fun to do a project together to get excited for the season. I found GREAT sales at Joanne fabrics on snuggle and noel prints. I picked some plainer patterns for the boys and some chubby christmas animal patterns for the girls. Ethan got pooh Christmas. The reason we are making them is that we scratched Secret Santa this year and just set a 10 dollar limit for everyone instead. So we are getting all the siblings a gift for 10 dollars and spending the same as one SS gift. I like buying for everyone and this makes it affordable. So everybody will have an assigned santa sack and when we go over for Christmas day we will drop their presents into their sacks and we can open around the room and take turns! I am so excited...It is also really practical because you have one bag to bring all your gifts home in and back next year with all your gifts in it. Andrea my sister in law helped for a little bit when she stopped by and my nephew ethan came over for a while and made ornaments.
Basicaly you just sew them like a large pillow case but leaving a hole for the ribbon on both sides at the top. They came out SO GREAT!!! I hope everyone likes them! Rascal fell asleep on the fabric hahaFinished Products!!

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. I was extremely thankful for my amazing husband, beautiful family and friends and all their support in our trying times. This year has been tough and I think it just makes me appreciate everyone and everything so much more! The food was amazing, simply delicious and everyone brought like 3 or 4 things to the meal so it wen tmuch more smoothly this year. Then at the dinner table my father in law said grace. and Ethan my 5 year old nephew says I have something to say! I love God and I wish I could meet him, and (as his lip is quivering and hes looking about to cry and totally serious) I love everybody in the world! I wept at the table. I am all hopped up on hormones so nothing isnt a tear jerker these days. It was the sweetest thing ever! Here are some of the photos!
